Max R. Trowbridge

| March 25, 2010 9:00 PM

Max R. Trowbridge, 81 of Moses Lake passed away Monday, March 22 with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 27, 1929 in Wexford County, MI to his parents, Grace and Charlie Trowbridge. Michigan is where he lived most of his life. He married his one true love, Leah, on October 16th, 1948, and they had a true adventure together.

Max worked for the Washtenaw County Sherriff’s department as a Mounted Officer for many years. His love for horses and the outdoors made this a job that he really enjoyed. He also had a role as a skin diver for the search and rescue as well. He later retired from Huron Clinton Metro Park as a maintenance employee.

On October 24th, 1949, he was blessed with his only son, Charles. If it wasn’t boxcars with motors on them, it was another big adventure, the sky was the limit. In 1985, Max and Leah moved to Alaska to be closer to Charlie and his family. Max worked on the farm helping out where ever he could. In 1993, a change to a warmer climate and a state with tumbleweeds instead of large evergreens was in their sights. They moved to Moses Lake, WA, once again following Charlie and his family.

Max loved the great outdoors, and riding horses. He would take his grandkids on trail rides and would never miss out on their shows at the fair. He made sure they all knew the importance of gun safety and always seemed to be the driver of the guns to the local trap shoots that they participated in. He spent a lot of his time in his garage crafting together jewelry, most of which he gave away to friends and people that he truly cared about. He was a member of the Columbia Basin Dutch Oven Society and traveled around cooking at different events in town and out of town. This was something that Max truly enjoyed. He had been a member of the Moose Lodge since 1976.

One thing was certain, he loved his family and put them before anything else. Every one of us will look forward to seeing him later with his arms open wide, a smile on his face and listening to him say his famous greeting “Howdy”. Grandpa you were one of a kind, we couldn’t have asked for anything better. We love you and miss you!

Max is survived by his wife Leah Trowbridge, son Charles (Rosemary) Trowbridge, grandchildren Elizabeth (Clayton) Pray, Kristine (Abel) Cruz, Suzanne Trowbridge, Max Trowbridge, great grandchild Charlie Pray, and 1 brother Jack (Katie) Trowbridge and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Grace Trowbridge.

A graveside memorial will be held at the Guarding Angels Cemetery, Saturday March 27th, 2010 @ 11:00 with a friends and family gathering to follow at the home of Charlie and Rosemary Trowbridge. Arrangements in care of Kayser’s Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake. You may sign the guestbook or leave a note for the family at www. kayserschapel.com.
