Ralph Richard Warnick

Ralph Richard Warnick, 91, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 17, 2010, at his home in Idaho Falls.

He was born Oct. 1, 1918, in Lehi, Utah, to Charles Louis Warnick and Angelina Webb Warnick. He attended school in Pleasant Grove, Utah, and graduated from high school in 1926. He attended Brigham Young Academy and Weber State College.

He spent some time in the last horse mounted Calvary unit during World War II. He taught horsemanship to other members of his unit who had never worked with horses before. He later graduated to the Armored Division. He was wounded in basic training and the 30 caliber bullet remained lodged next to his heart throughout his lifetime.

On March 6, 1942, he married Verna Langford for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was an electrician, engineer, and jack-of-all trades.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving faithfully in many callings.

He loved woodworking and produced many projects that will be long treasured. He was a life- long scout, receiving the Silver Beaver and the Grand Teton Council Hall of Fame Award.

He is survived by 4 children: Terry (Orva) of Tucson, Arizona; Wayne (Ellen) of Benton City, Washington; Warren of Mill City, Nevada; and Marie of Idaho Falls; 13 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna; a granddaughter, Tawnya, all of his siblings.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Kearney 2nd Ward Chapel, 1860 Kearney, Idaho Falls with Bishop Frank Plain officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010 at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and at the church Saturday morning one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery where military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
