WARDEN — Committee members for the Warden centennial are seeking volunteers to help with the June celebration.

The city is celebrating the day the city was founded, which is June 16.

Activities include a fun walk and an ice cream social. Both events are scheduled to start at Pam’s Restaurant. The restaurant is one of the first official buildings in the city.

“We’re working on decorations for the event. We’re working on beautifying Warden.” said Velma Meiners, the committee’s chair. “We’re preparing for our big celebration … We’re working on a theme for community days. It will kind of go back to the 100 years that Warden has been around, so we’ve kind of got a lot of things in the works right now.”

Meiners said the committee is looking for everything from people to set up tables to people to operate water stands during the fun walk.

“They might only spend 30 minutes of their time doing something like stuffing envelopes or making phone calls. Small things like that,” she said. “There’s so many little things they can help with that wouldn’t take a lot of their time. It depends on what part of it you do.”

The committee is seeking donations of flower pots about 24-inches in diameter or larger, Meiners said.

“We’re trying to work on the time capsule,” she said.

They are seeking stories about the city along with ideas and donations for the capsule.
