| March 11, 2010 8:00 PM

EPHRATA — Men and women in armor are gathering to conduct a war in the oasis Saturday.

Members of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) are holding a mock war in the Oasis Park, at 2541 Basin Street S.W., in Ephrata, beginning at 10 a.m.

The organization works to further education about western Europe during the Middle Ages by re-creating various skills from clothing and cooking to literature and martial arts.

Participants wear costumes representing the various cultures of western Europe from 60 A.D. to 1600 A.D.

The war is a set of group combat scenarios allowing SCA members to practice and enjoy martial arts from the time period, using wooden swords and suits of armor.

The public is invited to attend. Cost is $13 per adult and $8 per child between the ages of 7 and 13 years old. Hot food is included with the price of admission.
