Charlotte B. Hyde
Charlotte Hyde passed away March February 24, 2010 at Bishop Place in Pullman WA of age-related causes.
Charlotte was born March 16, 1921 in Englewood, New Jersey to John and Frances Van Duyn. She started school in Bronxville New York while living with her Great Aunt and cousin. She attended a number of schools before graduating from Haren High School in New York City in 1939. After high school Charlotte modeled in the wholesale district in New York and danced at the Copacabana Night Club.
She married Douglas Marr in 1946 then moved to Spokane WA in the summer of 1947. They had three children, Grant, Alison and Carla. They later divorced. While in Spokane, Charlotte was a member of the Greater Junior League of Spokane, worked in women’s retail as a salesperson and supervisor in a variety of settings including The Crescent, Grayson’s and Anita Shops.
In September 1964, she married Noble Hyde and moved to Moses Lake WA while she continued to work as a supervisor of several Anita Shops and also participated in farming, raising potatoes, wheat and seed crops.
In retirement, Charlotte enjoyed golfing, gardening, sewing and traveling in the U.S to visit family. She was the president of the Moses Lake Golf Association and once won the club championship. Charlotte and Noble moved to Moscow, Idaho in 2002 to be closer to their daughter Carla (Dave) Jones.
Noble passed away in June 2006 and Charlotte resided at the family home until October 2008 when she moved to Bishop Place Memory Care in Pullman WA. She was also preceeded in death by her sister Marjorie and infant brother John. Additional survivors include her son Grant (Jolaine) of Kennewick WA, her daughter Alison (Dave) Olzendam of Issaquah WA, her sister Pat (George) Dunning of Redding CA, grandchildren Charlotte, Ben, Shannon and Kaitlin Jones; Brooke, Ashley and Eric Olzendam; Brent and Billie Sue Marr and step grandchildren Rory Graves and Tyler Spence.
Charlotte has been cremated and as requested, no service is planned. She will be interred at Moscow Cemetery.
