James Ellis Baty
James Ellis Baty, 65, passed in his Moses Lake home on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. He was born in 1944 at Visalia, California to the late Warren James and Constance Marie Baty.
James was known to everyone as “Jim”. He spent his childhood living in Snohomish County with his parents and three brothers, Warren, John Dale, and Larry. While he was in high school, he met his first wife, Pam. They got married and had two beautiful girls, Kimberly and Shelly. From there he joined the Air Force which sent him all over the United States and overseas. Shortly after his departure from the Air Force, Jim and Pam divorced. A few years later, he met the love of his life, Karen, to whom he was married for 38 years and was blessed with three daughters, Danyel, Laura and Amanda. He then moved his family to Grant County where he worked in agriculture for 25 years. Jim enjoyed hunting and four wheeling; he was a great man with many fine qualities.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Ann Baty, as well as his five daughters, three brothers and sisters-in-law, 12 grandchildren, James, Jeff, Connie, Jeremiah, Jatender, Erika, C.J., Reiley, Rickey, Blayne, Clayton and Violet, one great grandchild, Jeremiah Noah and three sons-in-law, Tom Veenstra, Clint Wolther, and Jesse Mendoza.
A graveside service will be held at the Moses Lake Cemetery, 14403 Rd 2 NE, at 12:00PM on March 20, 2010, with Larry Baty officiating. Arrangements in care of Benson Family Funeral Service, Moses Lake. Following the graveside service, there will be a celebration of Jim’s life at 2:00 PM at the American Legion in Ephrata. Jim was a good man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but never forgotten. We love you Jim.
