MOSES LAKE — A 17-year-old Moses Lake male was shot in the leg in the area of West Texas Street in Moses Lake.

A reporting party advised of hearing eight to ten gunshots in the area of the Peninsula Ball Fields Thursday night, Moses Lake police reported Friday. At the same time, the Moses Lake Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a gunshot wound in the same area, police Capt. Dave Ruffin said. Immediately, it was determined the two reports were related.

When police arrived, they located the teenager and discovered he was shot in the leg with what appeared to be a .22 caliber firearm.

The teen did not give information about the shooter to police.

Another reporting party advised of seeing three male subjects, possibly juveniles, walking in the area. Police did not locate the three males.

The teen was taken to Samaritan Healthcare for treatment of his gunshot wound, police reported. A physician advised the bullet could be removed at a later date after taking X-rays.
