Local businesses host cancer fund-raiser

MOSES LAKE — Residents can listen to an Atlanta band live at Pillar Rock Grill Saturday night.

Although tickets for an auction, dinner and dance are sold out, anyone interested can come at 8:30 p.m. to listen to Tom Willner and the Urban Blue Band.

Cost is $25 at the door.

The event is the fourth fund-raiser organized by Columbia Colstor and Food Pavilion Relay for Life teams, with the help of Pillar Rock Grill employees and Wells Fargo Insurance. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society for cancer research.

The Columbia Colstor and Food Pavilion teams are family-centered. Each member of the team wears a shirt representing a loved one battling cancer.

“We are all involved because we have a family member that is a survivor, a sufferer or has been lost to cancer,” said Donna Anderson, Food Pavilion team captain. “The events we hold honor each of our family members we represent.”

There are 24 people involved in the Food Pavilion team and seven branches of employees involved in the Columbia Colstor team.

“This is a way for us to fight back,” Anderson said. “Money we raise brings us that much closer to finding a cure.”
