Cowell homicide reward increased

WENATCHEE — The reward for information leading to the person or people involved in the murder of Mackenzie Cowell, 17, Orondo, increased to $6,075.

The teen’s body was found along the Columbia River in Crescent Bar on Feb. 13 by a passersby. She was believed to be last seen Feb. 9 leaving her place of work at the Wenatchee Academy of Hair Design.

The Cowell Homicide Task Force asked the public to help in the investigation and it was later determined she was last seen at the Riverfront Park boat ramp at the edge of Orondo Street later that night. It is unknown what she was doing or who she may have been meeting.

“However, as of today, no suspects have been identified based on these new tips and the whereabouts of her phone remains unknown,” the task force reports.

The phone is described as an LG EnV2. Anyone who has seen this type of phone that may be related to the case or if anyone has other information related to the case, they are asked to call the tip line at 509-663-9911.
