Wildland fire burns more than 150 acres
Fire agencies fought a wild land fire that threatened homes and burned more than 150 acres of sagebrush land Tuesday morning near Ephrata.
EPHRATA — A fire burned between 150 and 200 acres of sagebrush land southeast of Ephrata Tuesday. The wildland fire was contained by firefighters by the early afternoon. The fire was in the area of Road 11.7 and Drumheller Road Northwest, southwest of Ephrata.

Grant County Fire District 13, Grant County Fire District 3 and the Ephrata Fire Department responded to the fire, said Grant County Emergency Management Communications Coordinator Kyle Foreman.
Prior to containment, Foreman issued emergency announcements on local radio stations warning people to prepare for possible evacuation.
Six homes were threatened by the fire and flames came within a few feet of one residence, he said. The fire did not damage any homes and there were no injuries. Foreman explained there was urgency due to the fire being wind-driven.
At the scene, several residents had personal sprinklers on in an effort to prevent the fire from coming closer to their homes.
By the early afternoon, firefighters were in “mop-up” stage, wetting down smoldering areas, Foreman added.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. The Grant County Fire Marshal’s Office was on the scene investigating the fire, he said.
