Vern L. Cox, 86, Mattawa resident passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010 at home.

Funeral services will be held in Mattawa, WA at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Thursday July 1, at 10:00 a.m. with a viewing preceding the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory. Vern was born November 20, 1923 in Jameston, Ida. He was the 7th child of Nelson Cox and Ida Hampton. He resided in Shelley Idaho and married Frances Fielding September 1, 1944. Soon after marrying, he went into the Army and served his country courageously in World War II. After returning home from the war, he took his bride and moved to Washington State where he resided until his passing June 27, 2010 at his home in Mattawa, WA. They lived in several areas of the state throughout the years; Prosser, Moses Lake, Warden, Connell, Omak, Grand Coulee, and the last 35 years in Mattawa where he died peacefully at the age of 86.

He had a full and happy life with his wife, Frances, for 65 years. His years were spent developing land, farming, raising cattle, hunting, fishing; enjoying the outdoors was one of his greatest joys. He was adventurous and loved a new challenge. They raised 3 children, Cindy, Phillip and Linda. He enjoyed his grandchildren, who came to their home often to visit, totaling 16 and 25 great grandchildren.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife, Frances, his daughters Cindy (Lonnie) Drollinger, Linda (Ken) Watkins both from Mattawa, WA. and his son Phillip (Donna) Cox from Pasco, WA.
