MOSES LAKE — A vehicle pursuit ended with an arrest following a collision near Moses Lake Monday.

Julian Quintero, 28, Moses Lake, was booked into Grant County Jail for felony eluding, attempted vehicular assault, hit-and-run unattended, malicious mischief in the first degree, driving with a suspended license in the second degree and violating an ignition interlock requirement.

Grant County Chief Deputy Courtney Conklin explained on Tuesday Quintero’s license was previously revoked due to attempting to elude police in the past.

The incident began as a burglary in progress on Northwest Lane outside of Moses Lake, he said. A woman advised someone was at her door, trying to gain entry. She called 9-1-1 and he fled from her residence in a tan Honda.

While deputies were en route to the residence, they located the tan Honda being driven by Quintero, Conklin said. He reportedly stopped about 30 feet from the deputy’s location. The deputy yelled at him to turn the vehicle off and put his hands in the air.

Suddenly, Quintero reportedly put the vehicle in reverse and nearly struck another deputy’s vehicle, he said.

A pursuit began that headed through the Larson Base area and into Moses Lake city limits. It lasted about 20 minutes, he said. The pursuit was at about 3:30 a.m. and no civilian drivers were in the area, Conklin added.

Quintero reportedly reached speeds of more than 100 mph while running past stop signs.

At one point, Quintero was allegedly northbound on state Route 17 and took the Stratford Road exit ,launching his vehicle over the crown in the roadway, back onto the highway, he said.

Eventually Quintero reportedly traveled to Airway Drive and attempted to turn onto Lybbert Drive, failing to negotiate the turn, Conklin said. He allegedly collided with a parked pickup truck, causing his car to become stuck underneath the vehicle.

He began to flee on foot and was apprehended by an assisting Moses Lake police officer in a nearby yard, Conklin said.

There were no injuries reported during the pursuit or crash.
