Elijah Walker Armstrong
Elijah Walker Armstrong passed away Monday, June 21, 2010 in Gig Harbor, Washington.
He was born November 12, 1912 in Ash Flat, Arkansas to Thomas Harvey and Grace Marcelia (Godwin) Armstrong. He was reared in Arkansas where he married Mary Irene Davidson on March 11, 1935. Later they moved to Washington.

He was born November 12, 1912 in Ash Flat, Arkansas to Thomas Harvey and Grace Marcelia (Godwin) Armstrong. He was reared in Arkansas where he married Mary Irene Davidson on March 11, 1935. Later they moved to Washington.
Upon arrival in Wenatchee, WA, he was hired by Great Northern Railway where he worked until he retired. On a short hiatus he worked on the Rocky Reach Dam, helping to build it. He also volunteered to work on the National Ski Jump in Leavenworth, WA, where trials for the Olympics were held. He did the blasting of rock to make the jump.
After he retired, he and Irene did a lot of traveling around the U.S. with their Powwow Rockhound group and their Airstream Trailer Club members. He helped develop and build the Ephrata, WA Senior Center, which they also helped maintain. He also loved to fish and golf.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Lottie Herndon and Ota Horton, one brother, Fred Armstrong, his son Dr. Walker Gene Armstrong. Survivors include his wife Irene, children Tommy, his wife Jan; Janet Bjork, her husband Bill; John, his wife Donna; Mary Armstrong and her husband Dave Grubbs; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-granchilren.
