Pink is tough enough for the Pirates

MOSES LAKE — Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation members are bringing pink to the park to raise money for local cancer patients.

The members are selling pink bracelets, neck ties and bead necklaces at the Moses Lake Pirates game tonight.

Gates open at 6:35 p.m. and the first pitch is at 7:35 p.m. at Larson Field, located at 2500 W. Broadway Ave. in Moses Lake.

The Pirates are set to play against the Bellingham Bells. Currently in second place, the Pirates are working toward a playoff spot in the East Division of the West Coast League.

“We’ve been doing this at the games for a couple years now and it’s a great way to raise awareness for cancer and get people's attention,” said Kayla Stoker, marketing director. “We use this as a kick-off for our Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign.”

The foundation sells accessories during several events at the Grant County Fair every year.

All money raised throughout the campaign is used to help local cancer patients get treatment and other items needed.

The neck ties are $5, the bead necklace is $1 and the bracelets are $2. The items are pink to show support to breast cancer patients and survivors.

“These products are a way of increasing awareness and showing support for cancer patients,” Stoker said. “Wearing them shows people you support the patients in our area and are aware of the effect cancer has on our community.”
