Moses Lake Junior Miss heads to state competition
MOSES LAKE — Rianne Jones, 2010 Moses Lake Junior Miss, is competing for the title of Washington’s Distinguished Young Woman.
Jones is the first young woman from Moses Lake to participate in the competition since it has been renamed. It was formerly referred to as Washington State Junior Miss.
“It’s exciting that Rianne is going to be a part of the first class of the Washington’s Distinguished Young Woman,” said Bonnie Dorris, co-chair. “She’s making history for us.”
Categories Jones is competing in include scholastics, interview, self-expression, fitness and talent. For her talent, she is performing a stylized clogging routine to the song, “One Step at a Time.”
“She is really ready to compete well in this competition and has worked very hard,” Dorris said. “She is capable, charming, talented and has a lot of poise. I think Rianne will shine in every single facet of the competition.”
The event takes place at Beasley Performing Arts Center on Washington State University’s campus.
“Rianne has a great personality and you can tell that she loves what she is doing when you watch her on stage,” Dorris said. “She is genuine and Moses Lake is proud of her.”
