MOSES LAKE — A Grant County sheriff’s deputy escaped injury when striking a deer Sunday morning.

Deputy Beau Lamens was traveling on Road 10 Northeast in a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria responding to a 9-1-1 call, said Chief Deputy Courtney Conklin. The deputy advised the deer jumped out into the roadway in front of him and he braked to avoid the deer but struck it.

Damage was reported to the front and right side of the patrol car.

The deer died from the impact.

Conklin said the deputy was able to drive the vehicle from the scene and the car will be repaired and placed back into service.

Three other incidents of vehicles colliding with deer in Grant County were reported over the weekend, according to police records.
