SOAP LAKE — Four people were treated at a medical facility after a collision on state Route 17, one mile south of Soap Lake Thursday night.
Duane D. Nycz, 50, Soap Lake, was traveling westbound on Road 19 Northeast, approaching the highway in a 1996 Chevrolet truck, the Washington State Patrol reported Friday. He reportedly failed to yield the right of way to a southbound vehicle on the highway and collided with it in the intersection.
Nycz was transported to Columbia Basin Hospital for treatment of reported head and shoulder injuries, the state patrol reported.
A 17-year-old Soap Lake male was the driver of the 1999 Ford Taurus involved in the collision, the state patrol advised. The teen and his passengers; a 15-year-old Soap Lake male and a 12-year-old Soap Lake male, were all taken to Columbia Basin Hospital as a precaution.
Nycz was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.
