EPHRATA — Two Moses Lake residents are accused of kidnapping a woman from a car on Longview Street in Moses Lake.

Tara Nazworthy, 26, and Benjamin Rodriguez, 27, are each charged in Grant County Superior Court with kidnapping in the first degree for the July 12 incident.

Grant County Superior Court Judge Evan Sperline set bail at $250,000 for Rodriguez and at $50,000 for Nazworthy.

The victim was waiting for a friend in a car when Rodriguez allegedly approached the car and ordered her to get out. When she didn’t, he reportedly drew a gun, ordering her out again.

When the victim continued to ignore Rodriguez, he allegedly grabbed her arm, forcing her out of the car and pushing her into the back seat of another car, where Nazworthy was waiting, according to a Moses Lake police report.

The car started moving and as it turned onto Beacon Street, the victim jumped out, according to the police report.

Nazworthy allegedly admitted to the crime, saying Rodriguez picked her up telling her he knew where the victim was after talking with the victim’s friend. She reportedly wanted to beat up the victim for “messing” with her boyfriend, according to the police report.

Rodriguez denied the allegations, telling police he received a call from the victim’s friend that the victim needed a ride. He said the victim got into the car voluntarily, according to the police report.
