MOSES LAKE — Washington Trust Bank in Moses Lake was robbed Tuesday afternoon at about 1:30 p.m.

There were no injuries, Police Chief Dean Mitchell said.

A white male demanded money from a clerk at the bank and fled in a blue-green Honda, he said.

Further suspect information was not available.

The suspect left the bank with an unknown amount of money, according to Mitchell.

Police were sent to all exit points out of the city in an effort to prevent the suspect from leaving and to increase the chances of locating the suspect.

According to emergency dispatch, a Honda fitting the description of the suspect vehicle was stopped, but it was not the suspect.

Police began checking grocery stores, hotels and parks as possible hiding areas for the suspect.

Mitchell said they are investigating whether or not a bank robbery reported in Omak recently is related to the Moses Lake bank robbery. The suspect in the Omak bank robbery has not been arrested.

Within the past couple days a man fitting the description of the Omak bank robber was located parked outside of Key Bank in Moses Lake, the police chief explained, but it was not the suspect.

During the scene investigation, police cordoned the bank and were photographing articles of clothing found on the ground. The clothing was a hat and possibly a striped shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Moses Lake Police Department at 509-766-9230.
