MOSES LAKE — Singer Paula Cole is coming to Moses Lake to sing at the 2010 Pig Out in McCosh Park.

The event starts Friday and runs through Saturday featuring free entertainment, food vendors and a wine festival. Each day the event is open from noon to 10 p.m.

Grammy winner and international recording artist Cole performs songs from her five albums at 8 p.m. on Saturday.

She rose to fame in 1997 with her top ten song “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?” Cole’s second hit, “I Don’t Want to Wait,” was used as the theme to the WB network television show “Dawson’s Creek.”

She soon after won a Grammy award for Best New Recording Artist.

Event organizer Bill Burke describes Cole’s music as contemporary and popular.

“She’s quite a pianist and quite a writer,” he said.

During her performance, she will play on a seven-foot grand piano.

Friday features free entertainment at the amphitheater starting with the group Yellow Dog at 6:30 p.m. They play 1960s and 1970s rock music.

At 8 p.m., The Rising performs.

Burke said The Rising is the best Bruce Springsteen tribute band he’s seen.

From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Grant County Wine Festival will showcase local wineries, he said. Each winery will feature a couple bottles of their best wine and will sell tastings ranging from $1 to $2 each. They will also sell bottles of wine.

Participating wineries include Kyra Wines, Dry Falls Winery, White Heron Cellars, Frenchman Hills Winery, Foxy Roxy, Jones of Washington, and Cave B.

Food vendors are open daily from throughout the entire event.

The vendors feature a variety of foods, Burke said. The vendors include Azar’s Cafe, Inland Empire Concessions, Geneo’s Kettle Corn, Sidewok, Upper Crust Foods, Pilly Bros/Fry Guys, Eldon’s Original Italian Sausage, Creagle Concessions, Tastin’ Texas BBQ, Lylo’s Cafe, Southern Roasted Corn on the Cob and Cravin Shavin.

Saturday features the wine festival from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The free entertainment kicks off at 4:30 p.m. with Haywire; a pop group.

At 6 p.m. Steven King is featured.

Burke said King is an internationally known finger-style guitar picker from Spokane.
