YAKIMA — Several Grant County fire departments and districts are assisting other firefighters battle a fire in the Cowiche Canyon near Yakima. Agencies include Grant County fire districts 3, 5, and 13, Coulee Dam Fire Department, Electric City Fire Department, Ephrata Fire Department and Moses Lake Fire Department, stated Kyle Foreman with Grant County Emergency Management. The wildfire began Sunday afternoon, he explained. The 8,000-acre fire destroyed three homes and several outbuildings. The agency response is part of a statewide mobilization. Agencies are assisting with manpower and equipment, Foreman noted. — Staff report
