Deputy coroners to begin service

MOSES LAKE — The Grant County Coroner’s Office welcomed the first group of volunteer deputy coroners.

The volunteers completed 40 hours of basic death scene investigation training including coroner duties, scene photography, scene investigation, ethics, report writing, death signs and interviewing.

The group was sworn in by Coroner Dave Matney.

The volunteers will assist the coroner’s office during incidents of mass fatalities and when several people are needed to handle multiple events.

The volunteers are Richard Lapthorn, Jesse Schorzman, Robbie Record, Tami Romig, Melody Wilson, Scott Engbring, Lee Williams, Melodie Rodeback, Desiree Lehman-Garcia and Dave Derting.
