Alverda V Jorgensen (Jones)
Alverda was born March 16, 1920 in Larned, Kansas to Walter & Bertha Baker and she was the oldest of 3 sisters. In July of 1935 she married David H. Jones and they lived in the Larned area until they moved to Bakersfield, California in 1940. In 1948 they moved to Moses Lake where she has resided until her death. David passed away in l973 and she later met Stanley Jorgensen and in 1978 they married. Alverda was preceded in death by her husband Stan in 2009 and by her sister Clenabelle.
She was active in the Moses Lake Golf & Country Club, The Order of Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, P.E.O. and the United Methodist Church. She worked for many years at Myras Shop of Fashion until its closing, and at the Hallmark Inn and Basin Travel. After marrying Stan they traveled and traveled and traveled. They called the Monroe House home since 2005.
Alverda is survived by one sister, Reva Atkinson in Salida, California, sons Kent Jones and wife Pam of Moses Lake and Jerry Jones and wife Kathy of Everett, Wash., Kraig and Linda Jorgensen of Moses Lake, and Susan Devaney of Melbridge, Maine.
Grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Bryan & Lori Jones and their children Breann and Abby of Vancouver, Wa.; Amy & Mason Utter and their son Sage of Moses Lake; Christopher & Lisa Jorgensen and their children Matt and Mackenzie of Spokane, Wa.; Erin & Einar Steinarsson and their son Valur of Leavenworth, Wa and Iceland; Nathan Jones of Everett, Wa.; and Lindsey Jones and her children Jayden and Semya of Everett, Wa..
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM July 31, 2010 at the United Methodist Church, 746 S. Ironwood, Moses Lake, Wa. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to P.E.O. Chapter ER, c/o Linda Williams, 5998 Road M.5 SE, Moses Lake, Wa.
