Two die as car crashes through pole

SOAP LAKE — Two people died and one person was injured in a collision six miles east of Soap Lake Thursday.

A car traveling westbound on state Route 28 left the road, hitting a telephone pole and breaking it.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene and one was airlifted to a hospital outside of Grant County.

The highway was closed as emergency personnel worked at the scene.

Washington state Trooper Rich Magnussen said the cause of the collision was unknown.
