Pickups collide near Soap Lake

A 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck and a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck collided at the intersection of state Route 17 and state Route 282 near Soap Lake Sunday.

SOAP LAKE — A 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck and a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck collided at the intersection of state Route 17 and state Route 282 near Soap Lake Sunday.

The Washington State Patrol reported Darin E. Clifford, 44, Tucson, Ariz., allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign, entered the intersection and was struck by a pickup truck driven by John J. Heston, 33, Ephrata.

Clifford was transported to Columbia Basin Hospital for treatment of reported cuts and bruises.

His passenger, Thomas A. Clifford, 15, was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital for possible broken legs, facial, head and internal injuries.

Heston was transported for reported neck, back and chest pain.

Jacer Heston, 8, Kylar Heston, 7, and Paige Heston, 5, were taken by ambulance to Columbia Basin Hospital for treatment of possible neck and chest injuries.

The state patrol reported charges against Clifford are pending.
