Reba B. Brown, 87, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Linda’s Edgewater Adult Family Home in Moses Lake.
Reba B. Brown, 87, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Linda’s Edgewater Adult Family Home in Moses Lake. Funeral services were held at 2:30 P.M. Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Grape Drive Chapel with Bishop Keith Coulson conducting. Interment followed at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Reba was born August 12, 1922 in Cardston, Alberta Canada, daughter of the late Dewey and Julia (Buck) Leavitt. She grew up in Glenwood, Alberta, Canada. She was married to Delbert Lamont Helton at the Cardston, Alberta Temple. They moved to Redding, California for a few years and then returned to Canada to live in Lethbridge. They then moved to Moses Lake in 1954. Reba worked for many years as a nurses aid and later attended Big Bend Community College to earn her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. She loved college and graduated with a 3.8 GPA.
She was married to Max Ott in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and they continued to reside in Moses Lake. In the early 1980’s she was married to Charles “Brownie” Albert Brown and he preceded her in death in 1986. Following his death she had their marriage sealed at the Seattle L.D.S.Temple. She continued to work as a L.P.N. until her retirement.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, most recently of the Moses Lake Second Ward.
She is survived by one daughter, Joanne Larsen, Salt Lake City, Utah; one son, Doug Helton, Moses Lake; one sister, Lois Housley, Canada; one brother, Jay Leavitt, Canada; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
One son, Jerald L. Helton and two grandsons, Daniel Wade Helton and Gary Lee Helton also preceded her in death.
