Blue Flame Restaurant focuses on quality

EPHRATA — The owners of the new Blue Flame Restaurant are proud of the healthy Pan Asian cuisine they serve.

All sauces are homemade. Meats and vegetables are fresh.

There’s no grease used for cooking or monosodium glutamate (MSG) added, said co-owner and cook Calvin Chen.

Instead, pure olive oil and soy bean oil are used for cooking and frying.

“We care about food quality,” said co-owner Kylie Chen, Calvin’s fiancee. “We will serve the best or not serve it at all.”

She is handling the management side of the business.

The restaurant is located at the building formerly occupied by Basaltz restaurant and Rock Park coffee.

The Chens opened their business in May in downtown Ephrata, which proved to be a busy month, Calvin recalled.

They are seeing many customers from Moses Lake, as well as return customers during the same day.

Their menu features appetizers, salads, soups and a Taste of Orient section, which includes spicy garlic sauce with a choice of meats, Thai coconut curry, broccoli in mild brown sauce, General Tso’s chicken, sesame chicken and orange shrimp.

They also offer a kid’s menu, with smaller portions of chicken, vegetable and rice dishes.

Teriyaki and hibachi grill are popular dishes.

In the future, the couple plans to add an espresso/ice cream bar next door.

Lunch hours are 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Dinner hours are 2:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 2:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday.
