Melvin A. Ehlke, 78, Warden, Washington resident, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA. Memorial services will be held at a later date at the family home.

Melvin A. Ehlke, 78, Warden, Washington resident, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA. Memorial services will be held at a later date at the family home. Melvin was born January 30, 1932 in Minot, North Dakota to the late Henry & Frances Finner Ehlke. He was raised and educated in Russell, North Dakota.

He married Marjorie Bennett in 1951 and they made their home in North Dakota. Until Melvin joined the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

In the summer of 1964 they moved to the Seattle, Washington area where he began work as a plumber for Boeing. He retired in 1988 and they moved to Warden where they have resided since.

Melvin was an avid fisherman and duck hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Ehlke of Warden; a son, Jerry Ehlke and his wife Norma of Auburn, Washington; a daughter, Paula Ehlke and her husband Ken Garza of Moses Lake; 3 grandchildren, Scott and Mark Bergersen of California and Joann Ehlke of Auburn, WA; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Ehlke; one brother and one sister.
