Reader appreciates support for band
Over the past year, the Moses Lake High School Band has enjoyed support from all corners of the community.
The obvious supporters include school administration and staff who provide the resources for the group, and students and parents for their many hours of commitment.
Thanks to Signs Now for refurbishing our fair booth signs for a reduced rate, and Clay Crook, who winterizes and starts up the ice machine for the fair booth.
Thanks to Evelyn Daniels Brown and Elaine Fox for their hours of commitment to music education. Each year they accompany and coach students with solos.
This year the jazz band tried something new and we are so glad we did. The event was possible through the artistic and advertising efforts of Harlan Beagley and the Columbia Basin Herald, Ty Ballinger’s instruction in swing dancing, and special guests Shirley Diamond and Chazz Warren.
Dale Roth Productions provided the lighting and D. Jay Kendall was willing to take a few chances in lighting and sounds set-up. We had beverages provided by Pepsi, McDonalds and the Hastings’ Hard Back Cafe.
Our last event of the year was the annual band barbecue before the Spring Festival Parade. Our thanks to Allied Ice for their donation helping to keep us cool before and after marching!
This summer we will again be fund-raising with a fireworks stand and fair booth. Many thanks to Ron Turner for providing a place for the fireworks stand this year. Thanks to OxArc for providing fire-extinguishers for the stand. Please visit us now at our stand on the southwest corner of Wheeler and Road L and our concessions booth at the Grant County Fair in August!
