Fourth of July celebration starts with barbecue

MOSES LAKE — Free activities are being hosted by the Moses Lake Parks and Recreation Department to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Sunday kicks off with a barbecue, said Parks and Recreation Director Spencer Grigg. The barbecue is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with hot dogs, chips, lemonade and ice cream.

The barbecue takes place in McCosh Park near the amphitheater, he said.

A concert begins at 8 p.m. in the amphitheater featuring the band Hit Explosion.

Hit Explosion will play 1970s and 1980s disco dance covers, Grigg explained. The group has won awards and toured, playing at several popular venues. They are based out of Seattle and will play until about 10 p.m.

Once the entertainment concludes, the firework show begins, he said.

The show is expected to begin at about 10 p.m. and will last about 25 minutes. It is visible over the lake from the park, Grigg said.
