PUD RATES

| January 28, 2010 8:00 PM

I am what our Grant County PUD calls a ‘Residential’ Rate Payer. There are over 34,000 of us here in Grant County. Everyone that pays their own household electric bill is a ‘Residential’ customer. The PUD ‘Residential’ customer accounts outnumber the other industrial, commercial and irrigation accounts three to one. Did you know we ‘Residential’ customers pay much more for a kilowatt of electricity than the other PUD customers do? Why? Maybe because we do not complain about this inequity or we aren’t well represented at the rate hearings (bargaining table). Our PUD Commissioners need to hear from us. There is a rate setting meeting coming up on February 3 in Moses Lake. Please contacted the PUD at gcpud.or or at one of the rate hearing meetings and ask them to fix the disparity in the electricity rates. I think residential rate payers should get the lowest power rates of all the PUD customers, because we the people own the license for the dams and the power they produce.
