MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Police Department established a tip line in an effort to gather information about the use of BB guns to break windows in Moses Lake.

On Friday and Saturday there were 20 reports from business owners advising they had broken windows. Police determined it was caused by a BB gun. There were about 40 windows reportedly shattered or damaged by the vandalism. The reports were on Third Avenue, Stratford Road, Broadway Avenue, Division Street, South Pioneer Way and Fifth Avenue.

The tip line phone number is 509-766-9273.

The reward for information leading to an arrest was increased to $4,450. Several members of the business community pledged money to the fund hoping ?someone will come forward with information.

Business owners interested in pledging money to the fund can contact Moses Lake Business Association Executive Director Marianne Bondi at 509-764-1745.

The business association suggests business owners install video security systems.

“These systems are not expensive and can provide valuable information to the police as well as document a crime for future prosecution,” the business association reports. “This is a fantastic way to protect yourself and the business community.”

People can also join a business block watch program. There are two-hour and four-hour shifts available. To join, contact Bondi.
