Norm Vehrs

Norm Vehrs passed away quietly after a long illness on Jan. 5, 2010.

Norm was born, Sept. 29, 1927, and raised in Spokane.

He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific toward the end of World War II.

He married Evelyn Franseen in 1947 and in 1952 they moved to Moses Lake to open new land for a farm, while working for Boeing Co. Norm worked for Prudential Life Insurance Co. for over 10 years. He later started investing in real estate and water systems. Norm was also active in many local organizations.

Although Norm had the responsibility of being head of the family since age 14, he still kept his quick wit and sense of humor throughout his life. Norm loved having a “good time” with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his father Pet, mother Verna, and sister Bev.

He is survived by his sweetheart of 37 years, Car Staffan, his three children, son Larry Vehrs (Seattle), son Greg Vehrs (Moses Lake), his daughter Lynnette Vehrs (Spokane), five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and one great grandchild he will miss the birth of.

Service will be held at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St., Spokane, WA on Monday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m.

Burial will be held prior to service at Riverside Cemetery at the family plot.
