MOSES LAKE — A memorial service to honor Grant County sheriff’s deputy John Bernard is Monday at noon.

The service is being held in the Big Bend Community College gymnasium, building number 2000, located at 7662 Chanute St., in Moses Lake.

Bernard, 52, Moses Lake, died Sunday night while on patrol on Road 5 near Ephrata. His car left the roadway and rolled. The crash remains under investigation.

The memorial service is open to the public.

Immediately following the memorial service, uniformed personnel will accompany Bernard and his family to the Ephrata Cemetery for a private graveside service.

Floral arrangements can be delivered to the college gymnasium between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday. Donations to support Bernard’s family can be brought to any U.S. Bank under the John Bernard Memorial Fund.

A team of Grant County law enforcement and statewide law enforcement organizations helped to arrange the deputy’s memorial service.
