Lois E. Boyd, 80, a longtime Wenatchee resident, passed away Tuesday morning, January 5, 2010 at her home in Wenatchee.

She was born on September 22, 1929 at Albion, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Joseph & Mabel (Dietsch) Hickman. Her family moved to Wenatchee in the early 1940’s, settling first on the Compton Farm. She attended Wenatchee schools and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1947. She went to work for G.T.E., General Telephone & Electric, and worked in Wenatchee and Moses Lake for 20 years. She later went to work for the United States Post Office as a Secretary and worked 15 years prior to retiring.

She made Wenatchee her permanent home in 1976.

Lois was a longtime member of the Eastmont Community Church and had been Secretary at the church for 10 years. She was an active volunteer for the Wenatchee Valley Senior Activity Center and was a faithfull member of the Thursday Card Group.

She is survived by one son, Jeffrey Farmer, Wenatchee; two daughters and son’s-in-law, Jody & Kevin McAlexander, Wenatchee and Kris & Willie Hill, Lynnwood, WA; five sisters, Ole Seibert, East Wenatchee, Lena (Chuck) Asher, Wenatchee,  Carol (Don) Newton, Moses Lake, Linda (Doug) Rash, Wenatchee and Sandy (Scott) Oakes, East Wenatchee; three brothers, Tom (Olga) Hickman, Moses Lake,  Joe (Dee) Hickman, East Wenatchee and Darrel (Shirley) Hickman, Tonasket; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Floyd Farmer in 1966 and Milton Boyd in 1992, and two sisters, Ann Reister and Doris Compton.

A Commemoration service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eastmont Community Church, 783 4th Street N.E., East Wenatchee with Pastor Dale Cook officiating.
