JUSTICE

| January 8, 2010 8:00 PM

I’m a U.S. citizen and a voter. In my years, I have never seen so much injustice and racial issues that I’ve seen and heard in Grant County in our courts. We vote these people in office but I’ve seen and heard such high bails for so many Hispanics and others with a payment plan like if they had a layaway. I’ve seen families targeted like the Toscano family and her children.

My friend was put in jail on a search warrant and we he didn’t even live there. Why were the people who rent there not charged? It was their residence. I believe this county has done a mistake and wants to cover it up as gang related and pass the buck to federal court. Where’s the justice? In our jails so many Hispanics sit there waiting trial for over eight months. What happened to the right to a speedy trail? People in office took an oath. The prosecutor has to put a bail at a reasonable amount. I’ve heard these Hispanics are set at over $70,000. The person that shot at Ronald Reagan didn’t serve no time.

We’re suppose to be innocent till proven guilty, not like the charges they have on Mrs. Toscano and her family.
