STATE BUDGET

| February 25, 2010 8:00 PM

Governor — $605 million more by taxing water, candy, gum, pop, tobacco, and oil products? Why stop there? Why not tax; coffee, tea, iPods and cellphones? Here’s a potential tax revenue. Why not tax the morons getting multiple tattoos and body piercings? In Moses Lake alone, you’d probably receive enough to balance the budget!

About basic health and welfare — Years ago you stated how the state helped over 75,000 poor children obtain health benefits. What is that number up to now, over 125,000? Take a look at any of the welfare parking lots. They’re packed every day! I think you are doing more than just helping them, you’re attracting them!

School districts — Why sink millions into educational programs, when you can’t even keep kids in school? Doubt me? Call any school office and ask them what the attendance or drop out rates are. Talk to teachers about waste in schools.

I am disgusted when I hear, “Why work when I can collect unemployment, besides, my benefits will be extended for another 6 months,” or “If I get a job, I’ll lose my welfare,” or “I’ll get more money from the state to feed my babies, than I could get delivering pizzas.” I don’t have a problem helping those in need. I draw the line when I’m expected to carry them their entire life!

A friend said, “Son, if you go down to the park and feed the ducks, you may feel you’ve done something good in life, but in reality, all you’ve accomplished is attracting more hungry ducks.”

Next time you talk deficit, try this. Look into the camera and say, “Don’t be a part of the problem, be a part of the solution! I can’t do it alone. Get off your fat, lazy, duffs and help fix this problem!”
