Joo Wol “Kim” Silva, 72, longtime Moses Lake resident passed away Friday, February 19, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories with Dr. Paul Wagner, officiating. She was born to Kim Chang and Soon on March 14, 1937 in South Korea.
She met the love of her life (John) while he was serving in the Armed Forces.
They married in Korea on March 3, 1963 and later moved to the U.S.
Military life kept them on the move. Their last place of residency together was Spokane, WA.
After the loss of her spouse, she moved to Moses Lake where she has lived for the past 25 years.
In her younger years, she enjoyed helping John in their antique shop and raising poodles.
She spent a lot of time cooking, fishing and gardening; these were things she really loved to do.
Kim loved to be with family. Whenever you came to visit, you were always welcomed with a great big hug and a kitchen full of food.
She also enjoyed her birds and feeding the squirrels.
She will be remembered most for her wonderful warmth, welcoming heart and delicious authentic cooking.
Kim is greatly missed and deeply loved by all who know her.
She was preceded in death by her husband (John), son (Chris), grandson (Frank), great granddaughter (Sidney) and her father (Kim Chang), mother-in-law (Helen Silva) and several brother & sister-in-laws.
She is survived by her mother (Kim Soon), brother (Kim Ke Yuk), sister (Kim Ke Wol) and several brother & sister-in-laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, great-great nieces & nephews, cousins and her faithful poodle companion (Benji).
