Alfred Henry 'Al' DeMoss

Alfred Henry “Al” DeMoss, Jr., 73, longtime Moses Lake resident died at home on February 18, 2010. He was born October 16, 1936 in Wapato, WA to Alfred Sr. and Lula Mae (Walker) DeMoss.

Al was raised and educated in Wapato. He farmed for many years and owned and operated a dairy. Al later worked for Safeway as a meat cutter until his retirement in 1988. He absolutely loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting with his family. He also enjoyed racing cars; he started working as a mechanic which led to him building and racing his own car in Ellensburg and Nascar sanctioned races in Yakima.

Al is survived by his dear wife Shirlee of Moses Lake; his children Deb (Mark) Guerin of Selah, WA, Cindy (Tom) Rowland of Zillah, WA, Colleen (Rick) Sjogren, Dan DeMoss, Penny Lyczewski, all of Yakima, WA and Melody (Shad) Ritter of Wenatchee, WA; sisters Carol (Buck) Austin, Madelyn (Jerry) Hooper and Mary Williams, all of Wapato, WA; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by an infant daughter, brother John DeMoss, sister Joyce Jacob, and his parents.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Al’s life will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in New Beginnings Christian Center, 318 W. Northshore Dr., Moses Lake, WA 98837.

If desired, memorial contributions in Al’s name may be made to the American Heart Association.
