Police review Ephrata bank transactions

| February 22, 2010 8:00 PM

EPHRATA — The Ephrata Police Department is investigating fraudulent transactions reported at the GRANCO Federal Credit Union.

Chairman of the Board Patrick Burdick said the transactions did not involve people’s bank accounts. The transactions strictly involved the payroll process.

He explained the credit union lost funds as a result of payroll transactions but it does not affect member accounts.

Burdick said he was unable to discuss the matter further due to the transactions being under investigation.

Based upon the company’s internal investigation, CEO/Manager Evan Jones was terminated from the credit union Jan. 21, according to Burdick.

Former CEO/Manager Shannon Behrens returned to the position at the interim manager until the position is filled.

Jones has not been arrested or cited for any criminal activity.
