Floyd Edward Bales

| February 22, 2010 8:00 PM

Floyd Edward Bales, 82, of Moses Lake, WA passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at St. Joseph Care Center, Spokane, WA. He was born to Thomas and Golda (Klontz) Bales in Bronaugh, MO on September 25, 1927. Shortly after Floyd’s birth, the Bales family moved to Joseph, OR where he grew up, attended school and joined the Air Force. He was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska as an airplane mechanic. Floyd returned to the Wallowa, Oregon area where he met Colleen Martin, married and had a son, Dan Bales. Floyd adopted his wife’s son from a previous marriage, Mike and they made their home in Wallowa, working in the logging industry. The family moved to Anderson, CA where Floyd continued to drive logging truck. They later divorced, he remarried and moved to Alaska. He primarily worked in the logging and timber business but also spent time as a purchasing agent, a mechanic in food processing equipment manufacturing and in farming.

Floyd loved to travel. He spent his early retirement years seeing the United States and New Zealand, doing genealogy and later living next to his son and grandkids, watching them grow up and helping fund their 4-H steer projects. He loved to watch the world go by, sitting in his car listening to the radio. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a man who loved his family, loved to keep abreast of current events, and loved animals – especially “his” Labrador dogs. He was a down to earth man who will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

At this time there will be no formal services.
