Rudolfo "Rudy" Benavidez

Rudolfo “Rudy” Benavidez, 68, lontime Moses Lake resident passed away at his home on February 10, 2010. Rudy was born on April 24, 1941 in Pharr, Texas, to Lorenzo Benavidez and Erminia Salinas.

Rudy married Juanita Garza in 1960 in Texas. They were the proud parents of three sons, Rudolfo L., Omar, and Armando. Rudy married Marion “Kay” Starr in October 2005.

Rudy was known for his love of gold jewelry and for his impeccable manner of dressing.

He was a hardworking man. Rudy was employed by Sunspice for more than 25 years until a disability forced him into retirement.

Rudy faced many challenges in his life. He saw each one through to completion, when many others may have taken an easier way out. This strength was something others looked up to.

Rudy is survived by; his wife, Kay, of the family home. Sons Rudolfo L., of El Paso, Texas, and Omar, of Moses Lake. Grandchildren, Crystal and Berlin, of El Paso Texas, Erika, Clarkston, WA., Anthony, Armando Jur., and Dylan, of Moses Lake, brothers; Joe of Fresno, CA., Gilbert, of Oak Cliff, Texas, and Daniel of Adelanto, CA. brother-in-law Albert (Cynthia) Garza and many other members of the Garza family, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Rudy was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita, his son Armando, his father and mother, sisters Lorenza and Nellie, brothers Zeke and Emilio, and several nephews.

A private family viewing will be held later this week, with a memorial service to follow at a later date.
