Kay was born in 1923 in Alpine, Texas and was the older sister of Jack Williams of Alpine. Her parents were Erie and Metta Williams, both life long residents of Alpine.

Kay led a rich and satisfying life. She attended Sul Ross State College in Alpine in the early 1940’s before leaving to work at nearby Marfa Air Force Base where she met and married James Samuel Stone of Carbon, Texas. He became an Air Force Pilot and over the next 20 years in the military they lived in Newfoundland; Tripoli, Libya; Johnson Air Force Base, Japan and domestically in Florida, Illinois, Colorado and Texas before finally settling in Moses Lake in 1963.

The family purchased a new home on Crestview Drive overlooking the lake and valley to the west. Kay’s husband passed away in 1964. She owned a business in Moses Lake and later worked at the Moses Lake High School Counseling Office from 1968 until 1976 when her father passed away. She returned to Alpine, Texas to care for her mother the same year, until her mother passed away in 1989. She continued to reside in Alpine until 1996 at which time she relocated to Tucson, Arizona to live near her oldest son, “Rocky”.

Due to strong family roots dating back to the 1880’s, Kay was returned to Texas and buried in the Alpine Cemetery in the family plot on Saturday, February 13, 2010.
