Jun Yamane
Jun Yamane, 78, longtime Warden resident, passed away Monday, February 8, 2010 at Samaritan Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2010 at the Moses Lake Event Center, 1475 Nelson Road with Rinban Hoshu Matsubayashi presiding. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Warden. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake. Jun was born June 8, 1931, in Kaysville, UT, son of the late Yasaburo and Tsuruyo Yamane. He graduated from Davis High School in 1949. He was married to Shizue Mayeda on March 6, 1954 in Ogden, UT at the Buddhist Church. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, he and Shiz farmed in Layton, UT. In 1967 they relocated to Warden where they have lived and farmed ever since. Jun and Shiz raised a family of 6 children and have 24 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Jun’s interests included farming, bowling, fishing, and most of all watching his children and grandchildren participate in school and extra-curricular activities including judo, school sports, cheerleading, scouts, and concerts. His life revolved around his family and everyone looked forward to the evenings when he would barbeque his famous steaks.
He is survived by his sons and daughter: Randy and Laura Yamane, San Carlos, CA; JoAnn and Rob Shuler, Warden; Keith and Kelly Yamane, Newman Lake; Paul and Cari Yamane, Warden; Kent and Amy Yamane, Warden; Glen and Shari Yamane, Spokane; grandchildren: Garrett Yamane, Imari Yamane, Jeremy and Annie Shuler, Rebekah and Andy Erickson, Benjamin Shuler, Chance and Sarah Guckenberg, Lucas and Crystal Yamane, Amy Yamane, William Yamane, Tamari Yamane, Joshua Yamane, Christopher Yamane, SallyAnn Yamane, Ryan and Julianne Yamane, Jamie and Michael McCloy, Jacob Yamane, Britney Yamane, Kaitlyn Yamane, Haley Yamane, Tyson Yamane, Ashlyn Yamane, Trevor Yamane, Danielle Yamane; great grandchildren: Natalie Shuler, JJ Shuler, Kaylee Erickson, Amaya Erickson, Read Guckenberg, Braiden Guckenberg, Trista Guckenberg, Hallie Yamane, Maggie Yamane, Aubrie Yamane, Hudson Yamane, and Owen McCloy; brothers and sisters: James Yamane, Kozo Yamane, Helen Higashida, Michiko Kawauchi, Natsuko Gerberding, Yayoi Yamashita, Tamiko Sato, Pamela Sato. He was preceded in death by his parents Yasaburo and Tsuruyo Yamane; his wife Shizue Yamane, his brothers William Yamane and Isamu Yamane; his sister Tomiko Yamane; and great grandchild Tia Guckenberg.
