Gloria D. Swenson

Gloria D. Swenson, 84, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away peacefully Monday, February 8, 2010 at Columbia Crest Care & Rehab Center. Private family inurnment will be at Guarding Angels Cemetery. In remembrance of Gloria her many friends are invited to a luncheon with the family at the Moses Lake Golf Club (Pillar Rock), starting at noon on Thursday, February 11, 2010. Gloria was born December 19, 1925 in Jamestown, Kansas to Roy and Mary Wilcox, the youngest of five children. At the age of 13 she moved with her family to Madera, California where she finished grade and high school. She met and married Marvin Dennis of Spokane, Washington. They had two children, Daniel and Kelly. Her husband Marvin died in 1966. Also preceding her in death was her son Daniel in January of 2009. Kelly lives in Moses Lake and is a nurse at SummerWood.

Gloria married and is survived by, Floyd Swenson. They were married in 1970. Their family together include 5 children, 15 grandchildren plus 5 adopted, and 13 great grandchildren.

She enjoyed working with the Spokane Civic Theatre and the Lilac Parade while in Spokane. She was involved with the PTA when her children were in school. She worked in the interior decorating department of the Crescent Department Store in Spokane from 1966 to 1970.

After moving to Moses Lake, Gloria enjoyed working with Lady Lions, was on the board of Allied Arts for 10 years, and enjoyed playing bridge with many different people. She loved traveling with her husband and visited about 90 countries.

Besides her family she loved music and art. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
