TEA PARTY
Pat Price was apparently misinformed about the Tea Party meeting of 1-19-10:
I personally reserved a place for 20 people for a Dinner Meeting. Upon my inquiry, following Price’s letter to the Editor, this reservation, as stated, was confirmed by Perkin’s General Manager. Perkin’s reservation book had a “Meeting – 20 People” in it. The GM had noted it prior to the meeting. The original reservation had been made the week before for 15 people and had been changed, by me, to 20 people, the morning of the 19th, being very conscious of the need to communicate the increase to Perkins. We have had several such meetings at Perkins without any complaints. When we arrived the night of 1-19-10, we were disappointed that people were already seated in the back of the Atrium and that Perkins had not set us up there with tables arranged for a dinner meeting as usual. Following my inquiry, The GM investigated this and found that the head waitress on duty that night did not put the meeting reservation on the white-board and, therefore, the staff was not informed. The GM also indicated that no-one remembered giving Mr./Mrs. Price the information referred to in the 1-21-10 editorial. We were very conscious of the high number of members ordering drinks only and have agreed to pay Perkins a supplementary fee for the use of their space. We are very pro-business and support it 100%. As for the noise level – that is a matter of great subjectivity. We actually had twenty-seven people show up for our meeting. We all agreed that we needed a better place to meet because we, speaking one at a time, had to speak so loud to be heard over the party at the other table in the room.
