SUPPORT FOR BILL

| February 4, 2010 8:00 PM

I encourage Basin residents to support the “Concerning Limited Service Pregnancy Centers” bill (HB2837/SB6452) which is before committee in our state government. The bill’s purpose is to ensure that limited service pregnancy centers (such as Crossroads) comply with consumer protection law. This would include informing center clients about which services the facility does not provide (such as comprehensive birth control services, abortion or medical care for pregnant women). It also proposes that all health information provided must be medically accurate. There is nothing resembling a “gag order” in this bill.

It is interesting that the staff of Crossroads opposes it.

The text is available online at apps.leg.wa.gov. You may e-mail your state legislators or call 1-800-562-6000.
