Othello drops two games, Quincy beats Toppenish

OTHELLO — Othello’s Huskies dropped two tough decisions this weekend, including a 69-58 home loss to Grandview on Saturday night.

Grandview (8-6, 7-5 in CWAC) broke out to a 22-8 lead after the first quarter and spent the rest of the game thwarting multiple Huskies’ comeback attempts.

Othello was led by Drew Scott’s 19 points and 19 rebounds and Jeremy Cerrillo’s 17 points.

The previous evening, Othello (5-9, 3-9) fell 61-58 at Toppenish (2-12, 2-10).

Othello held a 40-32 lead at halftime but the hosts outscored the Huskies 20-11 to record the come back victory.

Cerrillo led Othello with 15 points.

Quincy 59, Toppenish 32

QUINCY — The Quincy Jacks recorded their second win of the year with a 59-32 home thrashing of visiting Toppenish on Saturday night.

Quincy (2-12, 2-10) methodically pulled away from their guests with a 15-11 first quarter and a 13-7 second eight minutes to lead by 10 at the break.

Both teams scored 11 points in the third quarter before Quincy wrapped up the game with a 20-3 run in the game’s last period of play.

Jay Cedergreen and Luke Grigg each had 18 points for Quincy.

On Friday, Quincy dropped a 61-47 decision at Prosser.

Prosser trailed 14-13 at the end of the first quarter but then came out roaring with an 18-7 second and would eventually pull away for the win.

The Jacks were led by Cedergreen’s 14 points and Grigg’s 12 points.

ACH 74, Colfax 70

COLFAX — Saturday night the host Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors bounced back from a defeat 24 hours earlier and knocked off hosts Colfax 74-70.

Derek Isaak led the Warriors (11-7) with 26 points and Cody Jess added 12 points for the victors.

The previous night, ACH dropped a 56-48 decision at home to Lind-Ritzville.

A 15-4 run by Lind-Ritzville in the third quarter was the difference as they stormed back from a 33-28 halftime deficit.

Isaak scored 20 points and Jess provided 12 points in the loss.

Soap Lake 55, Waterville 45

WATERVILLE — The Eagles of Soap Lake evened their season record to 7-7 with a 55-45 road win at Waterville on Saturday night.

Soap Lake won behind a 34-18 first half performance and held off a late run by the hosts to cut the gap to four before the Eagles put the victory in the bag.

Kyler Moats led Soap Lake with 21 points.

Brandon Fuston’s 32 points were enough for Oroville to defeat the host Eagles on Friday night.

River View 54, Royal 33

ROYAL CITY — River View came into Royal City and led by Victor Contreras’ 25 points moved closer to the SCAC East title with a 54-33 win over the host Knights.

River View clinched the league the next night against Kiona-Benton.

Royal trailed 25-21 at halftime but struggled to score in the third quarter as they were outscored 15-2 and the Knights could not overcome the deficit from there.

Marc Albertson and Trevor Iverson led Royal with nine points apiece. Albertson also had 14 rebounds and five blocked shots.

Mansfield 63, Wilson Creek 48

MANSFIELD — Wilson Creek fell 63-48 at Mansfield in 1B North Central Washington league play.

Jacob Treat led the Devils with 18 points, six rebounds, and six steals, while Austin Reyes scored 15 points to go along with his nine rebounds, and two assists.

Patrick Trepanier added 15 points and five rebounds for Wilson Creek (4-7, 2-7)
