Moses Lake seeks bids for crack seal project

| February 1, 2010 8:00 PM

MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake City Council agreed to advertise for bids for the 2010 crack seal project.

The estimated cost for the project is expected to be about $140,000, said Municipal Services Director Gary Harer during the last council meeting. The project includes roughly 300,000 feet of cracks on city streets, bike paths and public parking lots.

The project is done annually, he said. Crack sealing involves closing the gaps in cracks to prevent moisture from entering the sub-grade materials leading to expansion of the pavement.

Deputy Mayor Bill Ecret motioned to accept bids and Councilmember David Curnel seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

City Engineer Shawn O’Brien said the specifications for areas to be crack sealed are nearing completion. He said the city is hopeful to begin the project in March, weather permitting.
