Ethel L. Montague

Ethel L. Montague went to meet her maker on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at age 88. Ethel was born on June 29, 1921 to Ephriam and Caroline (Webster) Bendixen. She was the seventh of eight children.

She spent her first few school years in Woodrow, Delta and Sutherland, Utah. Finished school in Vale, Oregon. She met Earnest R. Montague when he and his family moved to Vale. They were married in 1940 in Weiser, Idaho. They had six children. They moved to Moses Lake in 1952. Ethel was a homemaker. Then worked at several restaurants, Amundsen’s, Del’s, The Turf and Roma Inn. Later working at Country Gardens in Warden and American Potato in Moses Lake. Finally retiring at age 72. In 1983 she and Ernie started E&E Berry Farm. She loved her berry farm and living in the country.

Ethel lost her life partner in 1986. She spent the remainder of her life enjoying gardening, painting, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Ethel was preceded in death in by daughter Marion, her parents and sisters Marie, Fern and Cleo brothers Leon, Roy, Vern and James. She is survived by daughter Judy and husband Larry Ploghoft, daughter Vicky and husband Joel Bowen, daughter Joyce, son in law Bill Mackey and daughter Kathy and husband Ken Payne and son Roy. Ethel has 19 Grandchildren and 35 Great Grandchildren.

Viewing will be held at the Grape Drive LDS Church, Sunday January 31st at 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Viewing at 11 am on February 1st with Funeral Services starting at 12.00pm Burial will proceed to Moses Lake Cemetery.
